Patient Care Services
Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our areas of patient care services include:
Advanced Nutrition
When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system, we administer medication and nutrition through a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) or a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) until the patient recovers.
Case Management
Our case management team coordinates and facilitates the transfer of patients to our hospital from all referral sources.
Diagnostic Imaging
Skilled and certified technicians operate imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as convenient a manner as possible.
Dialysis
Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of dialysis with comfort and dignity, and continue to live a full, active life.
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions.
Bronchoscopy
A bronchoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the trachea, transmits images of the vocal cords, trachea and lungs, allowing the physician to carefully examine these organs. Our bronchoscopy team works to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure.
Pain Management
We feature a variety of treatments designed to ease chronic pain conditions that may result from an accident, infection or sprain.
Pulmonary Rehab
The aim of our pulmonary rehab team is to determine your capacity for respiratory recovery and then help you reach your fullest level of function. Our rehab regimen includes testing, education, breathing retraining and nutritional counseling.
Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation process is designed to help strengthen and restore a patient’s ability to live and work as normally as possible after a disabling injury or illness. Contact us for detailed rehab program information.
Medically Complex Care/Acute Rehabilitation
The Medically Complex/Acute Rehabilitation Program is suited for patients who have completed their acute hospital stay but still require acute care services. This program specializes in pulmonary and acute rehabilitation with the goal of transitioning patients to a less intensive level of care. Services include: Ventilator support/weaning, wound management and hemodialysis.
Pulmonary Care
After a serious illness or injury, many patients rely on ventilator support and find themselves in a fragile respiratory condition that requires state-of-the-art interventions. Kindred Hospital Northeast - Waltham Ventilator Support and Pulmonary Care Services offer a full spectrum of services, individually developed, to achieve the highest level of independence possible for the patient and family. These programs assist in the gradual decrease in dependency and possible termination of ventilation reliance.

Interdisciplinary Care
An interdisciplinary team approach to care is an underlying element of the Kindred Hospital Northeast - Waltham programs and services. The case management team consists of physicians, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, dietitians, staff nurses and most importantly, family. As a group, the team evaluates patients upon admission, and sets specific goals and objectives based on each patient’s needs. Once a patient attains these set goals, the team modifies the care plans and proceeds accordingly.
